Tawn Marie began dance training at age 6. Since then she has studied tap, ballet, jazz, & lyrical dance with many wonderful teachers. After dreaming for many years of opening her own studio, TMDC was opened in 1996. Since then, she taught thousands of students from all over CNY. Tawn’s students have won hundreds of regional and national titles. Tawn has won over 200 choreography awards. She was the recipient of the Woman in Leadership Award from channel 5. In 2003 TMDC was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine as one of the top 50 studios in the US, and in 2014 and in 2015, TMDC was chosen as the 20th Top Studio in the U.S by BDancewear.com! TMDC won the title of Top Junior Studio in the U.S in 2014 at USTD Nationals, and her student was crowned Miss Dance of the U.S in 2014.
The studio is also active in community events as well and performed “A Christmas Fantasy,” for the city of Syracuse for many years. Currently, Tawn is a national adjudicator for competitions and has choreographed for national dance teams. Tawn is certified to teach by Dance Masters of America #8.
Tami attended SUNY Fredonia and received a B.A. in Performing Arts Management; while attending college she was Vice President of Orchesis Dance Company. After college Tami worked as a performer in “This is Oktoberfest” at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia before joining the National tour of Vee Corporation’s Sesame Street Live. Tami performed as various characters including, Elmo, Zoe and Yellow Palette before becoming a Performance Director. Tami worked as a Performance Director for tours of Sesame Street Live, Dragon Tales Live as well as Bear in the Big Blue House Live. Tami continues to work as a freelance choreographer and has recently choreographed/directed Sesame Street Live shows for Beaches All Inclusive Resorts in the Caribbean and for Sea World Gold Coast, Australia. Tami joined the staff here at TMDC in 2004 and is thrilled to be working alongside her sister Tawn!
Kerstin has been involved in the dance community since early childhood. her dance training began with the Jack Gronau Studios. She began her teacher training in 1985 and was certified by Dance Masters of America in 1988. Kerstin was director of the Forbes Academy of Dance from 1991-1998 and has been teaching at TMDC since 1998. Kerstin's choreography has won Grand Champion at the NY State Fair Talent Showcase and the National Ruby Award at United States Tournament of Dance Nationals to name a few.
Kim started dancing with Miss Tawn when she was three years old. She continued dancing through high school at Tawn Marie’s Dance Centre on the competition team where she participated in numerous workshops, competitions, nationals, as well as Disney Magic Music Days. As a student at Tawn Marie’s Kim was a teacher’s assistant and dance instructor. Once Kim graduated high school she attended SUNY Oswego where she majored in Biology and completed a Masters in Education for Adolescent Biology. While attending college Kim worked at Lisa’s Centre of Dance Artistry in Oswego as a dance instructor. Over the last six years she taught dance to students of all ages, levels and also instructed their competition team. Outside of dance, Kim is a tenth grade living environment teacher at CNS High School. Kim is truly enthusiastic about teaching and is very excited to be back at Tawn Marie’s Dance Centre, where her love of education and dance began!
Sherri Campagni began her dance training at the Center of Ballet and Dance Arts in Syracuse, New York. To further her studies she spent the summers with the Milwaukee Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and NYSSSA. Currently a professional dancer with Neglia Ballet; Artist Sherri has performed lead roles in classical and contemporary ballets including Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, and Don Quixote.
Kelly Pocaro has taught competitive gymnastics in the Syracuse area for 20 years. She has enjoyed the last three years as the acro teacher at Tawn Maries Dance Centre. Kelly is a professional member of USA Gymnastics and is safety certified by USAG.
Amanda began her dance education at Tawn Maries Dance Centre of Syracuse, NY under the direction of Tawn Campolieti in 1993 and continued through 2005. She also studied at the Center of Ballet and Dance Arts from 2000-2004 under the direction of Deborah Boughton. Amanda participated in numerous competitions and conventions throughout the east coast, gaining regional as well as national titles for her performances. Upon her graduation from high school she inspired to follow her passion for dance into higher education, was offered acceptance to many prestigious college programs, and chose to continue her dance education and study at SUNY University at Buffalo. There she studied many different techniques and was very involved in performance and choreographic projects including the Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble, Zodiaque Dance Company, and as a dancer and choreographer for Dancer’s Workshop and the Young Emerging Choreographers Showcase. Amanda graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from UB in 2009 and immediately began her lifelong goal of teaching, choreographing, and educating young dancers by traveling to New Jersey where she was a teacher, choreographer, and assistant director of a studio for four years. She received many awards and choreographic honors from nationally recognized dance competitions and conventions, and in 2013 decided to travel back to rediscover her roots and passion for dance in Syracuse. Amanda can't wait to start this new journey and share her love of dance with the new generation of young artists and dancers at Tawn Marie’s Dance Centre!
Hillary Forbes began her dance education at Tawn Maries Dance Centre at the age of seven. She continued to be a part of the award winning competition team until she became an alumni in 2009. Hillary currently attends Bryant and Stratton College and will be graduating in May of 2015 with a degree in Criminal Justice. Hillary began teaching at Tawn Maries in September of 2013 and is eager to continue on to become a full time instructor in the future!
Megan began dancing at Tawn Marie’s Dance Centre in 1998 at the age of 3 under the direction of Tawn Campolieti. She continued to dance there for 15 years and competed on Tawn’s award winning competition team for 11 of those years. Megan has been trained in all styles of dance but she specializes in tap dance. She trained privately with Anthony Morigerato for 4 years. At the age of 15 she began teaching and choreographing for the competition team at Tawn Marie’s. She has traveled all over the country taking classes and performing. She has assisted at national conventions for some of the best tap dancers in the world. Megan is now a sophomore at Le Moyne College studying to become a Physician Assistant. She still continues to share her love for tap dance with her students at Tawn Marie’s by teaching and choreographing.
